To
start off, you must use the asterisk (*) to start and stop your codes.
If you want to scan "123" then you must enter *123*.
Without the asterisk,
you codes will not recognized by the scanner.
The
asterisk looks like this character here..
The asterisk
will also provide a border for your codes.
The second most important thing is to
make sure that the printed results have enough white space between the
bars to be read
properly by the scanner. If
your codes do not scan the first time, increase the point size. Check
to make sure the asterisk is starting
and ending the code, and that there
is no spaces in the code. If you need to enter a space character,
use the ~ to replace the
space
Carolina knows that
a sentence is a barcode sentence only if you put "*" before and after it
Problem and solution:
There is a feature in Microsoft
Word 97 and higher that keeps code 3 of 9 from being scanned. By
default, if you put the * around any characters, it will boldface that
item, and remove the * characters. Since code 3 of 9 requires the
* to start and stop the code, this feature needs to be turned off.
Choose [Format] from the menu bar, followed by
[AutoFormat...]
Choose [Options...]
On the [AutoFormat] tab, make sure that the *Bold* option
is UNCHECKED. This window shows the correct way.
On the [AutoFormat As You Type] tab, make sure that the
*Bold* option is UNCHECKED. This window shows the
correct way.

Standard 3 of 9 Characters Code 3 of 9 includes all uppercase
characters, numbers, and the period, hyphen, plus, forward slash, percent,
and dollar. There are
restrictions on the +,/,%, and $ however.
These codes are used in order to make up the extended 3 of 9 set.
A section in this document that describes what codes make up which extended
codes. For example, if you wanted to scan a !, you
would need to code /A.
.
One Size Fits All... Carolina Barcode is producing a wide
range of sizes for you to choose from. The name inculdes the sizes
so if one is not quite right in certain area, just look for the adjustment
that you need. Here is how Carolina Barcode fonts are named.
This would mean that if
you needed the characters under the bars to be a little taller, you would
download the file where font height number (158) was greater than 158

Extended
3 of 9 Code (These functions may not work with
your barcode reader if it cannot read Extended characters) The extended code 3 of 9 set is included
in the full version. However, you can create the extended set from
the basic set. In order to produce these extended characters it takes
two of the basic characters. For example, if you wanted to create
a !, you would have to scan /A.
