 |
5.
After Virtual DriveTM is installed, my system can't find the
real CD-ROM drive? |
|
|

drive letters. Add next statement to the C:\CONFIG.SYS file and then reboot
your system. lastdrive=z |
 |
6.
The setup program failed after I click on "Continue" for the welcome screen? |
|
|

"Add new hardware" from the "Control Panel", let Windows find the 32-bit
driver for your CD-ROM drive. If you still failed to upgrade to a new 32-bit
driver, you may need to contact your hardware dealer for the Windows 95

 |
You
must select the CDAudio on "Recording Control" windows and check the "Recording
Input Monitor" on "Advanced Controls for Recording Control" Window. If
you still having problems, try using "Sound Recorder" to record from CDAudio.

Note:
Windows 95 ORS2 and Windows 98 provides the "CD Player" program. Windows
95 doesn't have the "CD Player" program, you can use the "Media Player"
to play CDAudio in Windows 95. |
 |
19.Can
we build file CD (VCD) from selected files on my computer, network server
or CDROM disc? |
|
|
 |
Yes,
you create an ISO9660 CDROM image file from the selected files by using
CDR burning software (for example, Adaptec Easy CD Creator). And then use
the "Convert ISO9660 image to VCD" function of VDN admin program, to import
it into the VDN file CD jukeboxes. |
 |
20.
Why am I prompted to use the Universal Naming Convention (UNC)? |
|
|
 |
When
adding a VCD icon to the right pane of the Virtual Drive window, you must
include the full path to the existing VCD file, using the Universal Naming
Convention (UNC).
Example
1: LOCAL PATHIf you have a VCD file named "File.vcd",and it is located
inside a folder named "Optional-Sub-Folder",which is inside another folder
named "Folder",which is in the local hard-disk with a drive letter "C",then
the UNC name for this file is:C:\Folder\Optional-Sub-Folder\File.vcd.
Example
2: NETWORK PATHIf you have a VCD file named "File.vcd",and it is located
inside a folder named "Optional-Sub-Folder",which is inside another folder
named "Shared-Folder",which is in a computer named "Computer",Then the
UNC name for this file is:\\Computer\Shared-Folder\Optional-Sub-Folder\File.vcd.
Note:
If you are using Virtual Drive Network Edition, you should always use the
full NETWORK path (see Example 2), even if the VCD file is located on a
local drive. |
 |
21.Why
do I have problem building VCD files from only some particular CDs, yet
all the other CDs work just fine? |
|
|
 |
Some
software manufactures utilize proprietary encryption technologies in their
CD-ROM discs. Consequently, some VCD files must be built with either the
"Exhaustive read method" or the "Intelligent extraction method." If you
have problem building a VCD file from a CD-ROM disc, try to build it with
one of these special methods. You make the selection at the "Build VCD"
dialog box.
NOTE:
Both Exhaustive-Read and Intelligent-Extraction methods are not available
in Windows NT, 2000 or XP.
Our
Virtual Drive engineers are constantly acquiring and testing popular CD-ROM
titles to ensure proper support for them. However, it is impossible to
test all of them in any given time frame. If you know any CD-ROM title
that does not run properly with Virtual Drive, please let us know. Your
feedback will help our engineers to know what titles are popular among
our customers. |
 |
22.Why
am I prompted to insert a CD even when it's already inserted into a Virtual
Drive? |
|
|
 |
SOLUTION
One: Some programs must run from the same drive letter with which
it was first installed. For example, if you had first installed the program
using the "E" drive, then subsequently your file CD must be inserted into
the "E" drive for the program to run properly.
SOLUTION
Two: Some programs can run only when the CD is in the first of all
CD drives. For this type of programs to work with Virtual Drive, a file
CD-drive must be assigned a drive letter that's lower than all physical
CD-drives. You can assign a specific drive letter to a CD-ROM drive by
following these steps:
1.
Double-click on the "System" icon in the "Control Panel" window.
2.
Click on the "Device Manager" tab.
3.
Double-click on the "CD-ROM" icon to expand the list of CD-ROM drives.
4.
Double-click on one of the CD-ROM drives to open its "Properties" dialog
box.
5.
Select the "Settings" tab, then set the drive letter. Note: Assign drive
letters for all of your CD-ROM drives--both physical and file.
6.
Restart Windows for the changes take effect. |
 |
23.Why
does my system crash whenever I try to build a VCD file? |
|
|
 |
Solution
1: Your physicall CD rom drives are not detected by windows
but are using ms dos parameters (mscdex,...). It is necessary to remove
from autoexec.bat and config.sys all Cdrom lines. This problem can
occur under Windows 95 98
Solution
2:
If
there is any CD-burning software installed in the system, its driver may
be in conflict with Virtual Drive's Rapid Cache. To resolve the problem,
follow these steps:
1.
Uninstall Virtual Drive and all CD-burning software.
2.
Reboot the system.
3.
Install Virtual Drive.
4.
Delete Rapid Caches's driver file. (The default path in Windows 95/98/ME
is ":\windows\system\iosubsys\rcachex.vxd." In Windows NT/2000 it is ":\winnt\system\iosubsys\rcachex.vxd.")
5.
Reboot the system.
6.
Install the CD-burning software.
Note:
Some CD-burning software leaves its driver file in the system even after
the main program is uninstalled. In this case, you need to manually delete
the driver file before reinstalling Virtual Drive. For example, if you
have Nero Burning ROM, these are the steps to follow:
1.
Uninstall Virtual Drive and all CD-burning software.
2.
Reboot the system.
3.
Delete Nero Burning ROM's driver file. (The default path is c:\windows\system\iosubsys\nerocd95.vxd.)
4.
Reboot the system.
5.
Install Virtual Drive.
6.
Delete Rapid Caches's driver file. (The default path in Windows 95/98/ME
is ":\windows\system\iosubsys\rcachex.vxd." In Windows NT/2000 it is ""\winnt\system\iosubsys\rcachex.vxd.")
7.
Reboot the system.
8.
Install Nero Burning ROM.
Solution
3:
There
is a problem with nero 5.5 under Windows XP
not recognizing virtual drives.
you
can run both VD6.2 and Nero5.5 but you have to download a file
- wnaspi32.dll - from the www.nero.com
website.
On
the site you will find this information
latest
Nero driver (for Windows NT/2000/XP)
please
copy this file in the Nero folder. This new version solves the problem
in not finding any cd-drive after the installation of Virtual CD.
version: 2.0.1.41
For
other CD-burning software, contact the manufacture to find out whether
the driver file would be left in the system after the main program is uninstalled.
If it does, ask how it can be deleted manually. |
